Altijd al draailier of doedelzak willen leren spelen? Of ben je een gevorderde speler en wil je je graag verder verdiepen? Dit kan in de komende reeks zaterdagmiddagcursussen. Elk jaar biedt Stichting Draailier en Doedelzak een cursusreeks aan, zowel voor beginners als voor gevorderden. Daarnaast is er een samenspelgroep gericht op optreden. De cursus vindt plaats in Driebergen op de volgende zaterdagen:

- 16 november (met uitzondering van de groep van Rémi Decker, zij starten op 30 november)
- 14 december (op verzoek van de school, aangepaste lestijden: 12.30-16.30) 
- 18 januari 
- 8 februari 
- 22 maart 
- 5 april 
- 24 mei 

De cursusdagen starten om 13.00 en duren tot 17:00. De locatie is basisschool De Vuurvogel Vrije School in Driebergen (Faunalaan 250). Klik verder voor de routebeschrijving. Here are [my] drawings for "the Henri 3 Renaissance Hurdy Gurdy". I have modelled it on an existing instrument from Paris circa 1750. The main deviation from the original is that it can play a chromatic 2 octaves, has adjustable bridges and string lifting mechanisms. I have also changed the internal frame to use smaller wood stock. The original has solid end blocks that needed large wood stock to cut them from. There are 10 x A1 size (841mm x 594mm) sheets to this plan. I have written up the making of the Henri 3 Renaissance hurdy gurdy in a pdf booklet. This booklet combined with my plans "blueprints" will allow the construction of a period looking, modern playing hurdy gurdy."

Paraszta Pé - Brazilian music played on a hurdy gurdy

Pablo (hurdy gurdy) and Danny (percussion) play traditional music from northeastern Brazil, but with a Hungarian twist.

Using a hurdy gurdy to imitate a Brazilian rabeca (fiddle), Paraszta Pé presents a somewhat medieval take on traditional songs and rhythms from Northeastern Brazil. Recorded in Hungary in the summer of 2013, their eponymous debut CD includes a variety of styles, including maracatu, cavalo marinho, and, of course, forró and baião.

Indiana Hurdy-Gurdy Workshop • October 3 to Sunday, October 6, 2013

EMIM’s Second Hurdy-Gurdy Workshop in the Midwest will take place on Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Waycross Camp and Conference Center in scenic Brown County, Indiana. Learning and playing with both amateurs and professionals will take place alongside other enthusiasts in a relaxed atmosphere with renowned teachers and performers.
